B&Z Manufacturing utilizes state-of-the-art manufacturing
equipment to achieve success for our customers, including:
This extensive collection of equipment enables us to
manufacture the ultra precise projects our customers demand
and allows us to do it quickly and efficiently. Below
is a brief description of some of the key components that
separate B&Z from our competitors.
Kitamura HX400 12 Pallet Horizontal Machining
Center
B & Z’s newest machine compliments our 5 Axis
Supercell by allowing us to machine much larger parts.
It is a Kitamura HX400 12 pallet Horizontal with a robotic
pallet cell and 200 tools. This is also a 24/7 Lights
Out machine and we can expand on this system with more
pallet cells or machines in the future while still allowing
the machines to share all of the pallets.
Kitamura H400 Full 5-Axis Supercell
One of the latest additions to B&Z's arsenal of high-tech
machining equipment is a Kitamura H400 Full 5-Axis Supercell
CNC machine. The H400 is now ready to go with 20 pallets
and 200 tools. This large number of pallets and tools
allows B&Z to program an entire week's worth of machining
jobs into the H400 and simply let it run, turning out
the same high quality parts that B&Z is known for
24 hours a day, 7 days a week. With the addition of this
new machine, B&Z certainly adds to their unique experience
and job capabilities.
Multi Axis Machines
One of the aspects of machining that makes getting ultra-precision
on a part difficult, is physically placing the part in
the machine. Each time a part has to be repositioned in
a machine, an error factor is introduced of how close
features from one side of a part can be related to another.
That's why B&Z uses several state-of-the-art 5-axis
CNC milling machines, in addition to our other 4- and
3-axis machines. A 5-axis milling machine is capable of
machining five sides of a part at once, without the need
to re-fixture the part in the machine. This means that
five sides of the part are all related to one another
during the same machining process, yielding extremely
close tolerances. The sixth side of the part is often
left as the least critical side. When the sixth side is
done, B&Z can employ its electronic probing to bring
the last side of the part within tolerances. This is how
B&Z can produce parts with ultra-high precision, within
.0001 of an inch if necessary.
Electronic Probing
B&Z employs several electronic probing machines as
part of our normal multi-axis milling machines. There
are numerous factors which can contribute to faulty tolerances
in a part, such as milling machine clamping force, variance
in the part, temperature of the machine, etc. When a part
is placed in a machine with electronic probing, the probe
comes over and touches off critical edges of the part.
The probe can then tell the machine to within .0001 of
an inch exactly where that part is in relation to the
machine.
Computerized Measurement
Other shops can machine parts, but B&Z can machine
them with tight tolerances every time. When a part is
completed it is taken to our QA department, where we have
several state-of-the-art computer controlled measuring
machines. We have four full-time inspectors at B&Z.
All tools, equipment, and parts are calibrated, documented,
and filed according to ISO
9001:2000 specifications.
Our QA equipment also includes a Zeiss MC 550/500 CNC
coordinate measuring machine (with resolution of 1 millionth
and 10 millionths repeatability), 3 Zeiss Contura CNC
coordinate measuring machines with scanning heads, a Nikon
micro stage tool makers microscope, a Numerex Model Mini-Coord
measuring machine, a Bendix 1000 computer coordinate measuring
machine, a 14" Optical comparator, a 14" vertical
squareness gauge, and several other analyzers, micrometers,
computers, and microscopes.
Our latest machine is a SeeBrez 5300, a fully automatic,
programmable, and auto probe changing Vision system with
touch probing and programmable Optical edge detection
for accurate measurement of parts with features that can
not be checked by our Zeiss CMM’s. The SeeBrez can measure
depths and features at different levels. With contact
probing and Vision checking in the same machine it allows
for a more accurate picture of a part in one setup.
CAD Operated
B&Z Manufacturing prides itself in providing the
highest technology manufacturing around. Thats why all
of our equipment is CAD (Computer Aided Design) driven.
You can provide us your concept as a CAD file and we will
produce a final product.

Our Zeiss Calypso software is completely
CAD model programmable. From a CAD model to a finished
measurement program before the material even hits the
shop floor.
B&Z is also EDI capable. This allows
our customers to exchange data with us in a manner they
are accustomed. We can also receive files over the Internet
or via email.
