Multi Axis Milling

Multi Axis Milling Services

Machining methods have changed dramatically over time. The one spindle, one tool, one-man operation concept used in the early part of the last century and by garage machinists even to this day, has given way to multi axis milling services and turning centers.  Hundreds of staged tools, fitted with multiple fixtures capable of machining dozens, if not hundreds, of completed parts of all shapes and sizes in a single run.

These modern machine centers have redefined the landscape of production machining throughout the world reducing cost and time while improving quality. CNC high-speed multi axis milling and machining have elevated the manufacturing process to achieve extremely high levels of production output, as well as improving customer quality.

For more than 60 years, B&Z Manufacturing has provided high-quality multi axis milling and machining services to create components and parts in industries where precision, power and performance are critical.

We specialize in ultra-precise 4 axis, 5 axis, and 6 axis multi axis machining services to help create complex components with the rigid tolerances, proper resistances, exacting measurements, and stringent specifications you need.

What is Multi Axis Machining?

Machining has changed dramatically over time. The one spindle, one tool, one-man operation concept used in the last century has been replaced with multi axis milling services and turning centers that can perform multiple operations at the same time.

Multi axis machines have a variable speed tool spindle head with a multidirectional rotary axes orientation. Raw material is clamped into position on a table. The machine’s spindle head assembly moves in unison with the table to precisely maneuver the material and cutting tool to remove material and form a part. Multi axis milling machines are operated via a computer numerical control (CNC) panel.

More axes mean more power. This type of enhanced machining capability provides faster lead time and production turnaround with outstanding quality. Multi axis machining centers have re-defined the production machining landscape by:

  • Increasing productivity
  • Enhancing accuracy and precision
  • Accelerating cutting speeds
  • Decreasing tool vibration
  • Providing excellent surface finish
  • Improving product quality
  • Reducing costs

To stay current requires capital investment in machinery, people, and the training needed to run that machinery. At B&Z Manufacturing we have done just that. B&Z Manufacturing is a UL registered ISO9001:2015 company with complete machine maintenance and training documentation.

B&Z Manufacturing has been a leader in machining technology for decades. Our company was one of the first in the Bay Area running multi-spindle, multi-axis milling machines, dating all the way back to the 1980s. While state of the art back then, those early machines are long gone and pale in comparison to the machines producing parts at B&Z today.

Having multi axis milling and machining capabilities means multiple operations can be achieved at one time. Eliminating setup times, and building intolerance for ease of quality control.

Other shops can machine parts, but B&Z can machine them with tight tolerances every time. When a part is completed it is taken to our QA department, where we have several state-of-the-art computer controlled measuring machines. We have three full-time inspectors at B&Z. All tools, equipment, and parts are calibrated, documented, and filed according to ISO 9001:2015 specifications.
